When people are diagnosed with cancer, many of them need to undergo chemotherapy. While this is an effective approach, chemotherapy is also quite harsh for the body. One of the common reactions to chemotherapy is for a patient to lose his or her hair. One of the most popular drugs used in chemotherapy, particularly for women with breast cancer, is known as Taxotere. Unfortunately, reports of Taxotere side effects eventually began to surface, specifically from women who claimed to have permanently lost their hair as a result of using this medication.

If this has happened to you or to someone you love, you need to contact an experienced Taxotere hair loss lawyer as soon as possible to have your legal rights and options evaluated. Shapiro Legal Group, PLLC offer free consultations online or by dialing (888)640-3784.

About Taxotere

Taxotere was originally approved for us with lung cancer patients by the FDA in 1999. Since then, it has been approved for several different forms of cancer including breast cancer. The manufacturer of Taxotere is Sanofi-Aventis, one of the truly enormous and powerful corporations in the world of pharmaceutical drugs.

Taxotere proved to be an extremely successful product for Sanofi-Aventis. Estimates indicate that it generated approximately $3 billion in global sales during its highest-selling year.

Allegations of Taxotere Side Effects

Unfortunately, it wasn’t long before allegations of Taxotere side effects began to arise, particularly among women who had used the medication during the course of their treatment for breast cancer. Specifically, these consumers alleged that using Taxotere had led to permanent alopecia or hair loss. These allegations ran counter to some of the marketing messages associated with Taxotere which purported that any hair loss patients experienced would be temporary in nature.

The general medical definition for permanent hair loss is the absence of all or some hair for at least six months after it fell out in the first place. The women who allegedly suffered from this permanent hair loss as a result of using Taxotere faced real struggles as their lives moved forward. Women who lose their hair face the prospect of lowered self- esteem, in some cases depression and a loss in their overall quality of life. As such, many consumers have considered filing Taxotere lawsuits in order to recapture at least some of the losses they incurred allegedly as a result of using this medication.

Considerations Relating to a Taxotere Lawsuit

When consumers are harmed by large corporations, they face a difficult situation. Not only must they fight to recover from the physical, emotional and financial harm they have suffered but they must also navigate through complicated legal waters. That’s why consumers who have been harmed in this manner need to make sure that they have the proper legal help from a Taxotere lawyer available.
